02/07/2019: The public consultation on the Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market was launched on the 2nd July 2019. Consultation responses are to be submitted to the Ministry of Justice and Security by 02/09/2019.

15/4/2019: A joint statement on the directive was issued by the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Poland, Italy and Finland on the day the directive was approved by the Council of the European Union.

In September 2019 the Ministry of Justice circulates a new version of the draft law containing amendments made based on the consultation process. The Ministry of Justice sends out invitations for a series of invitation-only stakeholder consultation meetings to discuss the changes made.

In January 2020 the implementation bill is approved by the Council of Ministers, and is sent to the Council of State for review. It is estimated that the bill will proceed to the Dutch Parliament around the end of Quarter 2.
